Position Overview:

The Systems / Network Engineer is part of a team that designs, implements, and maintains computer network systems. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining network security, business continuity, records and documentation, and vendor relationships. The position requires the ability to work a 24/7 On-Call rotation.

Responsibilities:

• Research, recommend, and implement network and system technologies and methods for improving the performance and security of the network infrastructure.
• Collaborate with various departments to design and implement information system solutions.
• Implement and maintain all components of the company network, including but not limited to servers, routers, switches, firewalls, telecom systems, and related software.
• Create and maintain network and system documentation including but not limited to system specifications, installation/operational qualifications, procedural documents, inventory records, system logs, software/hardware invoices and licenses.
• Administer the Active Directory domain including user accounts/rights/permissions, group policies, etc.
• Perform hardware/software upgrades as required to maintain a secure and healthy network.
• Troubleshoot complex network and system issues and coordinate with various departments when necessary.
• Interface with support vendors to resolve network and system issues.
• Maintain warranty/maintenance contracts.
• Maintain backup and recovery systems.
• Monitor system logs and respond system events.
• Work additional hours beyond normally scheduled hours as required.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Skill / Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in MIS, Computer Science or similar field strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Systems / Network Engineer strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with the following: Windows and Linux server operating systems, Active Directory, DNS, firewalls, VPN, TCP/IP, routers, switches, backup and recovery technologies, FTP, server hardware, and documentation.
• Certifications in these areas is a plus.
• Excellent verbal, written and analytical communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize issues and respond accordingly.
• Ability to logically work through complex issues.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a group.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and provide results.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with end-users.
• Ability to take responsibility for problem resolution and multi-task.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
